Firstly, a huge thank you to Angela Croft who has been the Society secretary for the last 4 years but has recently decided to stand down from this role. She has done a tremendous job and the committee would like to thank her for all that she has done. Angela will still be providing her support to the Society as she always plays a significant role in organising the plant sale. Mike Smith has agreed to join the committee and take on the role of secretary, so welcome Mike, and thank you for taking on this important role.
The main reason for sending out this newsletter is to tell you about the installation of a defibrillator. At the AGM in February 2023, a ballot was held and what came out top was for a defibrillator to be purchased and installed. I can report that the defibrillator has now been installed on the Lousie Greaves site. It is housed in a yellow cabinet which is located within the larger of the two toilets for security reasons. Obviously to gain access to the defibrillator you need to know the toilet access code, which is C1489Z.
At rent day in March 2024 we plan to hand out keyring tags with the code on so that all members will have the code to hand in an emergency. PLEASE DO NOT ACCESS THE DEFIBRILLATOR CABINET UNLESS THE DEFIBRILLATOR IS REQUIRED IN AN EMERGENCY.
Plot inspections will be carried out again during the coming year on a quarterly basis to ensure that plots are being well maintained and cultivated and that grass pathways are also cut. Please let us know if you are struggling to maintain and cultivate your plot in the manner expected. If we understand the reasons then it can avoid unnecessary letters being sent out.

As we are in the winter months when bonfires are allowed, can I remind plot holders that there is a Bonfire Policy which details the do’s and don’ts should you decide to have a bonfire.
Copies of this and the Society Rules are posted on the main notice board adjacent to the car park, and also on our website, Please note that come 1st April 2024 bonfire’s will not be allowed throughout the summer in accordance with the Bonfire Policy.
DATES FOR YOUR DIARIES
The AGM 2024 will take place at the Vernon Arms Spondon on Wednesday 21st February 2024 commencing at 7pm. All members are welcome.
Rent day will take place in the Spondon Village Hall again this year. The date for your diaries is Saturday 23rd March 2024 between 1.15pm and 3pm.
The Plant Sale (all being well) will be held at Lousie Greaves site car park on May 11th 2024. More details will be provided in due course. As in previous years, we would greatly value donations of plants for the sale Therefore, when planting your seeds this spring please grow a few extra with the plant sale in mind. Also, please get them planted early as it is surprising how soon May11th will come around!
The Annual Show will take place again this year in 2024 on the 17th August 2024 at the Scout hut on Stoney Lane, where it has been held for the last 2 years.
